BARLEY GRASS Astounding amounts of vitamins and minerals are found in green barley leaves. The leaves have an ability to absorb nutrients from the soil. When barley leaves are 12-14 inches high, they contain many vitamins, minerals, and proteins necessary for the human diet, plus chlorophyll. These are easily assimilated throughout the digestive tract, giving our bodies instant access to vital nutrients. These include potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, phosphorus, manganese, zinc, beta carotene, B1, B2, B6, C, folic acid, and pantothenic acid. Indeed, green barley juice contains 11 times the calcium in cows' milk, nearly 5 times the iron in spinach, 7 times the vitamin C in oranges, and 80 mg of vitamin B12 per hundred grams. Barley also contains a-glucan, a fiber also found in oat bran and reported to reduce cholesterol levels. The root contains the alkaloid hordenine, which stimulates peripheral blood circulation and has been used as a bronchodilator for bronchitis. Barley bran, like wheat bran may be effective in protecting against the risk of cancer.

Vitamin A is required for sharp vision, while Vitamin C helps form collagen and is needed for growth and repair of tissue cells and blood vessels. Anthocyanosides support and protect collagen structures in the blood vessels of the eyes, assuring strong, healthy capillaries that carry vital nutrients to eye muscles and nerves. Bilberry has long been a remedy for poor vision and "night blindness." Clinical tests confirm that given orally it improves visual accuracy in healthy people, and can help those with eye diseases such as pigmentosa, retinitis, glaucoma, and myopia. Bilberry is also used in connection with vascular and blood disorders and shows positive effects when treating varicose veins, thrombosis, and angina. Bilberry's fruit contains flavonoids and anthocyanin, which serve to prevent capillary fragility, thin the blood, and stimulate the release of vasodilators. Anthocyanin, a natural antioxidant, also lowers blood pressure, reduces clotting and improves blood supply to the nervous system. Bilberry also contains glucoquinine that has the ability to lower blood sugar. This herb is strong yet very gentle, especially for pregnant and nursing moms.

CAYENNE Many herbalists believe that Cayenne is the most useful and valuable herb in the herb kingdom, not only for the entire digestive system, but also for the heart and circulatory system. It acts as a catalyst and increases the effectiveness of other herbs when used with them. Cayenne is a medicinal and nutritional herb. It is a very high source of Vitamins A & C, has the complete B complexes, and is very rich in organic calcium and potassium, which is one of the reasons it is good for the heart. As well, Cayenne desensitizes the sensory nerve endings to pain stimulation by depleting Substance P from the nervous system, which is the basis for its use as a local analgesic, and recent research suggests that cayenne can ease the severe pain of shingles and migraine. As mentioned above, it is a catalyst or "carrier" herb as it helps to deliver all other herbs into the blood stream. Cayenne comes from the Greek word "to bite" due to its "heat," and is commonly used as a cooking spice, however, when used in an herbal supplement, it is uncooked, so as to be "unheated" for retention of nutrients. As a catalyst it aids in the absorption and effectiveness of any herbal combination. It increases the body's ability to produce HCL which aids in digestion. Its high viamin A content is essential for normal vision, growth, reproduction, and immunity. Cayenne has also shown to be useful for preventing strokes and heart attacks.

CORAL CALCIUM This “new” ingredient is not so new at all, especially to those in Asia where it has been ingested for centuries. Coral calcium contains an abundance of 74 naturally occurring minerals. The balance of calcium to magnesium in coral calcium most closely matches the human body. This makes Coral calcium absorb better without the side effects other calciums, the most common of which is constipation. It has been known to bring relief from many ailments including heart palpitations, eczema, muscle cramps, headaches, insomnia, arthritis, diabetes and kidney stones. In fact there are many diseases that can be attributed to simple mineral deficiencies. Another interesting fact is that women don’t seem to lose weight as well without assimilating calcium properly.
2B-Strong uses only above ground coral calcium that has been above sea level for thousands of years, free from the pollution of the industrial revolution. The Coral calcium that is obtained from under the ocean must be heated to high temperatures to remove toxic levels of metals. This heating causes an imbalance in the mineral structure and then minerals must be added in again from another source, thereby changing the entire natural structure. This under water excavating of dead coral also destroys under ground habitat for many of the sea life that thrive there. Many scientists claim this will have a long-term negative effect on our eco-systems. In view of this, FemOne chooses only to use above ground eco-safe coral calcium in our formula.
DAMIANA This herb positively supports urinary track health. It restores vital energy by assisting in hormone balance. This herb's reputation for arousing sexual desire is noted by the second part of its botanical name, "aphrodisiac." It helps to maintain proper balance of hormones, calms nerves, female glands, hot flashes and menstrual disorders related to Menopause. Dong Quai contains vitamins E, A and B12. Researchers have isolated at least six coumarin derivatives that exert antispasmodic and vasodilatory effects. Antispasmodics are a remedy for menstrual cramps. The essential oil in dong quai contains Ligustilide, butylphthalide and numerous other minor components. Ferulic acid and various polysaccharides are also found in Dong Quai's root. These elements can prevent spasms, reduce blood clotting and relax peripheral blood vessels. Research has shown that Dong Quai produces a balancing effect on estrogen activity. Modern treatments prescribe the herb to combat PMS and to help women resume normal menstruation after using birth control pills. The herb has been found useful in balancing and treating many female systems and cycles. Dong Quai's constituents can act to stimulate the central nervous system which can remedy weakness and headaches associated with menstrual disorders. EVENING PRIMROSE Evening Primrose has been known to ease depression and nourish the whole body. It is full of essential oils that can help lubricate joints and promote ease of mobility. Oil from this plant’s seed contains essential fatty acids that have natural antiprostaglandin properties which may help to reduce breast lumps. Prostaglandins are a group of chemicals that the body produces – some of them favor inflammation and are believed to contribute to breast cysts. Evening Primrose oil is effective in treating breast tenderness. Like other nuts, seeds, and fruits (including olives, rapeseed, corn, and so forth), evening primrose seeds contain some vitamin E, and in addition what are known as essential fatty acids (EFAs)-so called because the body needs them in order to function properly, but does not produce them. We have to consume them. The chief essential fatty acids are linoleic acid and linolenic acid, both of which are plentiful in foods. Evening Primrose oil, however, is a source not only of linoleic acid but also of another kind of fatty acid called gamo-lenic acid (also known as gamma linolenic acid, or GLA). This fatty acid, normally manufactured by the body from linoleic acid, is important in many ways. It is transformed by the body eventually into eicosanoids, hormone-like chemicals that include the prostaglandins. The latter control such processes as inflammation, blood clotting, and cholesterol synthesis. In England it is an approved medical treatment for breast pain and eczema, and is widely used for premenstrual syndrome, psoriasis, high cholesterol levels, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, and nerve damage in diabetics.

An added benefit to Ginger is that it is a strong antioxidant and effective microbial agent for sores and wounds.
GLUCOSAMINE HCl Found in FemOne's 2B-Strong, Glucosamine is an aminosugar. It is made in the body from the simple carbohydrate glucose (sugar) and the amino acid glutamine. Glucosamine is involved in the formation of cartilage, nails, tendons, skin, eyes, bones, ligaments, and heart valves. It also plays a role in the mucous secretions of the digestive, respiratory, and urinary tracts. Of particular interest is its role in cartilage, a connective tissue at the ends of bones (it separates bones so that they do not grind together, causing stiffness and pain). Cartilage also serves as a shock absorber, protecting our bones from the wear and tear of movement. The more glucosamine there is, the more collagen and proteoglycans there are, and the more water can be absorbed, resulting in healthier cartilage. Because of these properties, glucosamine can help the body help itself repair damaged or eroded cartilage. It works at the cellular level to reinforce our natural "repair" ability.
As we age, the millions of movements we have made in our lives begin to wear and tear on cartilage. Catilage begins to deteriorate, and our bones begin to rub together. This becomes noticeable around age 45, and often happens in the fingers, knees, hips, neck, and lower back. Cartilage can also be destroyed through trauma, injury, and repetitive actions. One way to counter the deterioration and destruction of cartilage is to increase the amount of glucosamine your body has. Glucosamine is not only a "builder" but also a painkiller, improving both joint function and reducing pain. Many clinical trials have demonstrated that glucosamine results in less pain due to cartilage deterioration and a wider range of movement. In all of these studies, glucosamine sulfate proves to maintain joint health.
GOTU KOLA Gotu Kola has been referred to as "food for the brain". This oriental herb has demonstrated mild tranquilizing, anti-anxiety and anti-stress effects, as well as improving mental functions such as concentration and memory. It has a calming effect on the body and is chiefly used to support the central nervous system. These beneficial qualities make Gotu Kola an excellent herb for children with A.D.D. because it has a stimulating effect on the brain that increases one's ability to focus while having a soothing and relaxing effect on an overactive nervous system. The herb's calming properties make it well suited for overcoming insomnia and making one calm for yoga and meditative practices. It is commonly used to rebuild energy reserves, improve memory and treat fatigue, both mental and physical.
HOPS Known as a "nerve tonic," especially for soothing "excitability." A fast acting nervine that helps insomnia. Is an excellent source of niacin. Helps to sooth inflammation. Hops help reduce pain, ease tension, and aid sleep. Because of the bitter principles in hops, they may be used as a digestive stimulant. They also have a diuretic effect. The estrogenic compounds found in the volatile oil can be absorbed through the skin and are strong enough to interrupt the menstrual cycle in female hops pickers and decrease libido in men. Modern research has shown that hops relax smooth muscle, especially in the digestive tract. For this reason it can be used in combination with other herbs to relieve symptoms of Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome and nervous stomach. It also has an antibacterial effect, which is why it could preserve beer, as well as an anti-inflammatory effect and may be used to reduce gastric and duodenal ulcers.
HORSETAIL Horsetail is an excellent astringent for genito-urinary system, reducing hemorrage and healing wounds thanks to a high silica content. Horsetail is rich in silicic acid and silicates, which provide approximately 2–3% elemental silicon. Potassium, aluminum, and manganese, along with fifteen different types of flavonoids, are also found in this herb. The presence of these flavonoids, as well as saponins, is believed to cause the diuretic effect, while the silicon content is thought to exert a connective tissue-strengthening and anti-arthritic action. Some experts have suggested the element silicon in horsetail is also a vital component for bone and cartilage formation. Anecdotal reports suggest that horsetail may be of some use in the treatment of brittle nails.
KELP Generally promotes healthy functioning of vital systems by addressing mineral deficiencies. The largest marine plant, Kelp is an excellent source of trace minerals particularly rich in calcium and iodine. Iodine is essential in the human body for the production of thyroid hormones that are required for metablolism and energy. Kelp is also believed to help decrease breast cancer, lower blood pressure, prevent hair loss, heart disease, rheumatism and arthritis. Kelp is also very good for endurance athletes as a mineral replacement since it is the richest source of trace minerals available naturally. Kelp helps dissolve firm masses such as tumors. It is very valuable in the stimulation of delayed or suppressed menstruation especially where there is anxiety or tension involved. It is a useful relaxing tonic for aiding in menopausal changes. Motherwort is also an excellent hearth strengthening herb beneficial for over-rapid heart beat where it is brought about by anxiety and other such causes.
MSM
MSM is a key ingredient in FemOne's 2B-Strong. MSM is a naturally-occurring nutrient, a sulfur compound, found in normal human diets. Sulfur is an element present in all living organisms, and is the eighth most abundant element in the human body. Having a long history as a healing agent, MSM has been used for centuries to help heal a variety of ailments. While sulfur’s natural anti-inflammatory properties have shown benefits for a range of health problems, including arthritis, muscle and joint pain, some of the essential functions that make sulfur possible for us to live include maintaining the structure of the proteins of the body, helping in the formation of keratin, which is essential for hair and nail growth, aiding in the production of immunoglobulin, which maintains the normal immune system, catalyzing the chemical reactions which change food into energy and neutralizing or eliminating toxins from the body. (Sulfur is needed to create/hold the molecular structure, particularly the sulfur amino acids: methionine, cysteine, taurine.)
Almost everyone in our modern society is deficient in MSM but with age the deficiency grows even more pronounced. What’s happening in our lives today is that we’re processing too many foods. The most efficient way to assure sufficient levels of MSM in the body, or to benefit from the therapeutic benefits, is to include it as a staple of one’s daily nutritional supplement program. In fact, in recent years athletes and fitness enthusiasts have begun to rely on MSM to reduce the pain, soreness and inflammation associated with injuries, strained or cramped muscles and over-extended joints. MSM, taken in combination with ingredients such as those found in FemOne's 2BStrong, are well known for helping strengthen and repair bone cartilage. They are also well known for reducing discomfort associated with many bone and joint related ailments such as arthritis, increasing blood supply, reducing muscle spasms, softening scar tissue, decreasing inflammation, lessoning pain impulses along the nerves, and helping repair injuries. As with herbs, there are different grades of MSM and Glucosamine. FemOne uses only the best, highest quality raw ingredients available.
